After flipping through the chapters of They Say/I Say, I thought that I would benefit from Chapter 7: “So What? Who Cares?” Saying Why It Matters. This chapter was about adding why each sentence you added to your essay and why it was important. It focused on “real world applications and consequences of those claims”. The author added templates in the book which I think helps me find new ways to phrase my sentences. If I change my sentences to something similar to this, I will be able to make my analysis clear. The word count for this essay is very small and I will need to make sure I do not spend a lot of words and repeat myself. If I use these templates, I will shorten my analysis and make my points more concise. I tried to use these templates everywhere I could in my essay. It is very important that I be concise with my essay and asking the question, why does this matter, helped me realize what was important and what is not. I simply took out what did not prove my thesis and I put it in another google document, just in case I wanted to use it again. Using this chapter has impacted my paper because it has helped me make my points more concise and it has helped me hit the word count.
